The incredible story of George Westren just keeps on giving. After his beautiful and intricate artwork captured the world in June 2022, only a year later his family have now begun discussions with prominent contemporary art galleries to exhibit and sell George's work. We are delighted to announce that the first gallery where you can see George's fine work up close and personal is Vandal Gallery.
This is a particularly suitable gallery to have as George's first posthumous representative because it is based in the heart of George's original hometown, Ilfracombe, North Devon. "We just feel so privileged and cannot be more excited to be representing George's amazing artwork to the art collecting world," says Dan Martin, Director of Vandal Gallery. "He was such an incredibly talented artist, who went unnoticed for far too long. We often look at his work and map out how we would draw it ourselves, if we were to even try. Before long we would probably give up because it requires such patience, focus, precision and an outrageous amount of spatial awareness."
Having secure their first formal representation, the Westren Estate will shortly be opening up discussions with wider galleries to continue the story further. "We think that Vandal is the perfect place to put George's work after he sadly passed," said a family representative. "It's in the heart of his hometown and his looks great on their wall. Hopefully there will be many more to come."
